Business Cards on HQ

There have been numerous attempts to rethink the business card over the years, and for the most part each has met a similar fate: failure.

There is just something about having a piece of paper that has our name emblazoned on it. It's more than just a means of conveying contact information, it's also a status symbol.

As of 2017, the world was printing 27 million business cards per day! Of those 10 billion cards, a shocking 88% are thrown out within the first week.

Fast forward to 2021 and COVID may finally be the thing that changes our opinion of the business card.

Introducing "Just Met"

Business cards on HQ are part of a larger system called Just Met. The business card part comes in two variants: Personal and Professional.

Personal card design Professional card design

Each card design is intentionally simple and minimalistic. Both cards have a large QR code, and the idea is that the HQ user holds their phone up with this card showing, and the other person scans the QR code using their own phone's camera.

How to create a card

First, the HQ user goes on the HQ app on their desktop and creates a Just Met card. You can select a personal card or professional, and you can also choose whichever color you want the card to be.

Once the card is created, you can access it on the mobile app.

Ok, how do you use this thing?

Once you select your card, hold up your phone screen to the other person and they can scan the QR code.

When they do that, their phone's browser will load this exact same card on their phone! Boom!

The entire experience is digital. All the other person needs to do is scan the code! Better still, there are options for adding additional context about where you met this person, what you talked about, and it gives you a really easy way to create a task to follow up.

With Just Met, we've taken all the best elements of the business card as a societal artifact and status symbol, and given it a modern, digital framework.
